CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE & SCHOLARSHIP TRIALS

At Wandsworth Lions Football Club (WLFC), our mission is to develop confident, resilient and technically proficient young players who are Brave With The Ball. Our pathway supports children and young adults from age 6 through to age 21, giving every Lion the opportunity to grow, learn and compete within a structured environment built on our WLFC Lions Pillars – Club Core Values.​

Centre of excellence & Scholarship Teams ​

The WLFC Centre of Excellence and scholarship programme are for players who are ready to compete and show the attributes required to grow through their development and competitive phase of their football journey.

​

Our aim is to provide a platform where children aged 6 and above can showcase their ability while receiving elite-level training.

​

Entry Pathway:

  • 60% of players are selected from the WLFC Development Centre

  • 40% are recruited through:

    • WLFC Holiday Camps

    • Open/Annual Trials

    • Internal referrals (WLFC Club Manager / Coach)

​

To be invited, players must:

✔ Be able to combine football education with academic education 

✔ Show good to excellent football ability

✔ Twice a week training (minimum)

✔ Show commitment and a strong work ethic 

✔ Demonstrate a positive attitude to learning – be coachable

✔ Work well within a team

✔ Display the WLFC Lions Pillars consistently
